Football Life-Randall Cunningham on NFL network now....
Now, I loved Randall. I wear his jersey to the games. He was far from the best QB ever, but he was by far the most exciting QB ever.
I sat in the stands at Franklin Field in 1960 and saw Concrete Charlie smother Jim Taylor to win a championship. Stuff like that made me love my Iggles, but I was born an Igglephan, a Philadelphian. I've bled green since the day I was born.

I'm from this area thats why I'm an eagles fan. Randell was always my fav growing up. He was the 1st QB of this team that I'm old enough to remember he was always my fav player as a kid. I wear his jersey to the games sunday.

I'm too young to have gone to Franklin Field. But my pops always talked about it. He's been an Eagles fan since the mid-1950s. There was never a choice in my house about which team to watch. When Randall came along, I was a kid. But Buddy, Randall, and that defense justified my dad's insistence that I was a fan. I've been grateful to him ever since. Here's just a piece of what drew me in...
If they had given that guy a running game and a real offensive game plan that used his skill set they would have won 2 or 3 Super Bowls with that defense.
I don't give a fuck about Purple People Eaters, Doomsday, Steel Curtain, whatever ... that's the best fucking defense I ever saw.
Obscenity is the last refuge of an inarticulate motherfucker.
Part of the love-hate relationship with the fans. He was a hilarious bag of sound bites, and a ferocious defensive mind. If only he had the smarts to hand the offense to somebody who knew how to build one. Sigh.

Totally agree with you about the "gameplan." If Randall were playing now, he'd be utilized in a system that fit him, I think, which would've made him even more lethal.
Agree on the '91 D as well. They scared the f*** outta people. There were dudes from other teams who got sudden "injuries" or other mysterious afflictions the week before they played the Eagles so they wouldn't have to play against White, Waters, Joyner, etc. that week.

Randall was the reason for me, but no way could i have anything but the utmost respect for Chuck Bednarik. Growing up in Canton, it was all about the Browns, but I just never latched on to that franchise. When Randall came along, I was hooked after the first time I saw him play.
