That point has merit but I think it depends on what sort of contribution Tebow brings.

If your only situation is Game X where Bradford gets hurt and Tebow has to come in instead of Sanchez then yes - I'll agree that it's better to have Sanchez active over Tebow.

But if Tebow is a factor over the course of 16 games, I think it's reasonable to think he would provide greater value than Sanchez filling in for part of one game. Especially given that this team should be able to run the fuck out of the ball.

If it's a situation where the Eagles are behind and need their QB to win the game with his arm, I don't think Sanchez or Tebow are the ideal candidates for that job.

If Chip puts Tebow in to run 2-pt conversions, he would not only be the laughing stock of the NFL, he should be fired immediately.
Tebow has zero value because he stinks! People need to stop with this Tebow crap.

I can make sense of both scenarios. Leads me to think it would be better to keep 3 QBs active on game days.

I'd be curious to see him in game-planned/practices short yardage situations. I don't think Bradford is going to be running much but Tebow is a legitimate read option threat.

Stop, just Stop!!! You seriously want Chip to take out our number one QB who can thread a needle with his passes for a slug like Tebow who can't hit the ocean with a pass if he was 10 feet away?
If we run the ball, you give it to Murray or Matthews. Just flat out stupidity with this whole Tebow crap.

Yes, I want Tebow in on clear passing situations that require his exquisite ability to throw the ball.

You are aware that teams, even those that don't use the read-option, often have the QB's run the ball to pick up short yardage. Bradford, as you may know, is coming off a significant leg injury and until proven otherwise I don't think he'll be seen a big running threat, allowing the defense to key in on Murray/Mathews.

Regardless, Kelly brought Tebow in for a reason and I personally don't think it was just to have him backup the backup. If he ends up making the team, I think it's because Kelly thinks he can utilize him as more than just a head-set model out there to sell jerseys.

Running plays, passing plays, I don't care which it is, I do not want Tebow anywhere near the field in the regular season. And Chip is a stone cold moron if he does replace Bradford with Tebow for any reason.

I just don't get the Tebow love. He absolutely sucks and yet people try to make excuses for him.

I wouldn't really call my feelings Tebow love.

I'm intrigued at how Kelly can utilize his skill set. Kelly seems to get a lot out of his offensive players - and in multiple cases players have had the best years of their careers in his offense.

And based on the fact that Kelly brought him in as part of his overhaul, it leads me to think that he did it for a reason. As a traditional QB, Tebow isn't very good. But he does have certain talents.

He threw a couple of decent passes against Moe, Larry, Curly last night. What exactly is his skill set?

Although I can see your point Terp, I guess my question is the read option kinda relies on a bit of a surprise factor to stall the defense for a second or two.

Doesn't having Tebow coming in kinda tip your hand?

That's a fair point. For all the PSU fans here, you're pretty much describing a staple of the James Franklin offense at Maryland. They'd put in Josh Portis as a run/pass threat but he never passed so guess what defenses started doing.

I'm not really saying Tebow wouldn't pass, I just think in a short yardage (or any really) situation it offers the defense a choice of the RB running, of the QB running or the QB passing. Is the likelihood of Tebow passing greater than Bradford being a run threat? Maybe not.

I just don't see the value of Tebow being a 3rd QB and nothing else unless Kelly is playing the long game and thinks Tebow is a future starter/backup/trade piece.

Competition was weak but he showed escapability in the pocket and his time in Denver (let along Florida) showed his ability as a runner. You're the one that's making an argument against his ability as a passer - I don't think I've really praised him as one.

Running? Then why are we wasting cap space on Murray and Matthews. Just make Tebow our running back.
Again, if Chip takes out Bradford for Tebow in any situation, he is a stone cold moron.

I was listening to Hollis Thomas recently and he said something along the lines of that, to him the value TeBow brings is that his different skill set would force the opposing team to waste time gameplanning against him and to waste time practicing the additional defenses in the game plan.
