We have some solid pieces on D, but the offense needs a total rebuild, and I'm glad it won't be Chip doing it.

I think money cost us those guys. The year after he signed his new big contract that Howie gave him, immediately after the Saints playoff loss, Jackson said his contract needed to be upgraded to reflect the numbers that he put up in Kelly's system; Shady said, after numerous reporters asked him if he would consider reworking his contract, said that he "wouldnt take one penny less than he was owed"; Mathis had been angling for a new contract for 2 years--then when Kelly cut him--perhaps because he realized no one would give him the 5M he was set to earn for the Eagles, he said he woukd have reported to camp. I didnt see Maclin on your list, but he spurned the Eagles for only 500K. To put a twist on the Cliff Lee quote--"What can you buy with 11M that you cant with 10.5M"
Really though Kelly's undoing was he didnt adequately replace those players with players that would produce in his system. Look at all the players he released--theyve either been released, benched, or injured for their new teams.

Chip cared more about getting rid of him than getting value.
