... when TN canned Whisenhunt over a month ago. (That's an unusual move to make during mid season.)
Around that time, I think TN and Chip used back channels to work out their mutual interest. Yes, as IE always proclaimed, Chip used Bradford as a bargaining chip to get Mariota and during that time, TN saw an opportunity to lure Chip. Getting Bradford was a big gamble and steep price to pay when you consider that Bradford, a bridesmaid, would be less than thrilled to negotiated with the Eagles. But did Chip care if he saw an out with TN? If Ken Whisenhunt didn't want to trade Mariota, Chip ( the darling coach) would lobby for Whisenhunt's job in TN IF AND WHEN shit hit the fan in Philly ( which happened around the time TN got rid of Whisenhunt).
In short... The Eagles failed to get Mariota; Bradford wants out; the experiment failed mid season; back channel negotiations occur; Chip and Davis shit can their play calling by going vanilla ( and they were vanilla on both sides of the ball); and Chip (and maybe Davis) are paid by forcing Lurie to fire them.
We'll see soon enough.
