  • You're a top coaching candidate

Assuming the reports are true ... you just saw what that little back-stabber did to Kelly after one fucking year.

You want to coach in Tennessee with Mariotta ... NY with ODB and the Slack Jawed Yokel ... Indy with Luck ... or with a cheese-eatin' rat as your personnel guy and no quarterback?

Three coaches in twenty years is a pretty good track record in the NFL. I don't think firing Kelly hurt Lurie at all. There will be plenty of candidates who aren't worried about total control.

You think Lurie made a mistake firing Kelly?

While coaching Luck would be appealing it sounds like the Indy ownership and/or front office is kind of toxic as well. Their owner is a well established drunk/asshole so I'd be hesitant to walk into that situation. Grigson seemed like a future stud GM a few years ago but I'm not sure if that is the case now.

I'm still hoping the rumors from the past day or so are true that Lurie plans to hire a real personnel man not just leaving Donahue or Roseman.

Every team has its warts, it is not just the Eagles. There will be plenty of guys wanting a HC job in Philly.
The Eagles may not be appealing to some of the retreads out there like Cowher, Gruden, Billick, etc. but who cares. I don't want them anyway. How many coaches have won a superbowl with one team then moved to another team and won another superbowl? I can't think of any. Why would anyone want to hire these retreads? I rather they go after a top OC or DC in the league right now who wants to prove he can be a HC.

Time will tell if it was a mistake ... and it's completely beside the point that coaches look at how other coaches are treated.

You think Bill Bellichick knows less than you when he says he thinks Kelly got fucked over?

Bill Bellichick knows more than me. However, when he said the jettisoned Eagles haven't really been doing well, it seems like he's simply sticking up for Kelly.

McCoy was having a McCoy-esque season except for the multi-week injuries, Jackson came back from hamstring and has helped the foreskins a great deal, and Maclin has helped KC finally throw TDs to a WR.

Maybe BB was focusing on the shit job Foles did.

I think Belicheat is absolutely wrong about the players he let go. He may have been right about Foles. He was clearly wrong with regard to DJax, Maclin and Shady. He might be right about Mathis and Herremans but that is completely negated by the fact that he failed to replace them (also true with the previous 3). Belicheat is just sticking up for his buddy.

Exactly my point ... coaches stick up for each other and are going to talk about how Kelly got fucked by a rat with no football pedigree after only being given a year as the guy in full charge.

No HC can win without talent. Who is here to bring in talent?

Didn't everyone think Kelly wouldn't even go to the Eagles

because of how Bellichick allegedly felt about Howie?

This is turning into stupid soap opera-esque speculation.

There are 32 of these jobs in the world

and I think Lurie has a pretty good track record as an owner. I think he'll get the guy he wants, and it won't be much of an issue.

I just hope Lurie is wising up. I think he is frustrated that he doesn't have a ring. He's shown that he is willing to boot or demote people close to him if he thinks it will help. Roseman being canned would be the dream scenario (not gonna happen), but I would feel at least OK with a few experienced personnel guys and a strong head coach who won't give a shit about Howie.

I don't know much about Donohue but I can't imagine a guy like that who has been around the block is really going to let a pencil pusher tell him what's up.

All of those team are now considered better situations due to their QBs. The Eagles need to follow that blueprint and suck enough to draft a franchise QB. I'm not sure if this year is the year for a QB so the timing probably sucks. Bringing in someone like Sean Payton may keep this team in football purgatory where they may never be able to draft high enough to get that franchise QB. I prefer a rebuild and roll the dice on the less popular names. If they are going to repeat history, don't do it with Howie (dolt), do with another Reid (less popular name), Johnson (real defensive coordinator that will make your head coach look better) and McNabb (top five draft pick QB).

Why don't we wait to see who is brought in as coach and a personnel guy before we condemn the team to hell.

Having a QB is always a premium (thus, my last comment in the post).

However, add a "dolt" to no QB and it's even less appealing.
