  • Gambling question

Here's something that has been puzzling me over the last day and then I realized I should do whenever I need information - ask Igglesphans.

I was looking at the different books and line movements for the Hou - KC game. Public betting is solidly in favor of KC (70+%). The spread drops in one book from KC -3.5 to -3 and I'm thinking there's reverse movement. However, the juice on KC is also moved from -110 to -130 so where I thought they were trying to incentivize bets on KC, they also disincentived those bets as well.

    Wha haaapen?

taking advantage of the public really.

You've got reverse line movement (chiefs from -3.5 to -3) but significant public support (I don't know, but I'll believe the 70+%), so clearly heavy sharp betting is on the Texans. However, it looks like the public is tossing a decent amount of cash on them, so Vegas is making them pay some extra vig.

Texans is the appropriate play here (we know that) and I'm thinking the 2H line might be a solid play as well given the FF-potential

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess they expect the public to continue to hammer the Chiefs. Agree that the Texans is the smart play, which is supported by the line movement. Reid alone might be enough for me to take the points there haha.

i agree. My guess is that given the public have thrown significant sums on the chiefs and some large sharp bets on the texans but perhaps not enough to balance it?

I think the playoffs are good for dogs generally speaking as the public tends to focus heavily on a few games and largely on the favs

500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.
