  • The new coach's philosophy: play not to lose

Not only did Doug Pederson claim responsibility for the prolonged final Chiefs drive against New England but he actually confirmed that the drive was DESIGNED to be that long because he didnt want to let Tom Brady have the ball back.

Last time I checked this was called playing not to lose and its the best way to insure that your team never, ever wins a Super Bowl. This is the guy that Jeffrey Lurie says was the best coach available and he was so scared of Tom Brady on Saturday that he reduced his teams chances at victory to a pittance just so Tom Brady wouldnt beat on the Chiefs any more.

Do you seriously think the control freak FF, is going to put HIS playoff life in the hands of a slight part time play caller. The answer is NO!

If you watch the clip he stated twice that they took their time so they wouldnt give Brady back the football. He firmly believed this was the proper way to handle the situation.

It goes far beyond whether he called those plays to the loser's philosophy he detailed in his press conference.

A part-time signal caller with both feet already out the door. There's no chance FF didn't call that drive.

That was Pederson not throwing his mentor under the bus.

Exactly. One thing about Reid - he never threw anyone under the bus. That obviously rubbed off on Pederson. Was he really going to say, "oh, that was all on the guy who helped me get this job." Maybe Chip would say that...

That drive had the FF stink all over it. Is there anyone here who wasn't having Super Bowl flashbacks the entire time? It was obvious.

Pederson still needs to learn the art of bullshitting the media. Maybe FF can host a workshop for Doug this offseason.

Just read below you are wrong, Dougie has learning to do but I think he can see what shitty things FF did and how it cost the team.

Belichick was probably having SB flashbacks.

For sure. That was just painful to watch. I kept telling my son, "This looks familiar!"

as it stands now, he stated that he believes that the best way to defeat the best players in the NFL is to duck and hide. There is no evidence whatsoever proving that he knows any other approach.

You may be right and he may have kept uis mouth shut while Reid proved the buffoon once again but this flawed coach with a losers mentality is the ONLY teacher Dougq Pederson has ever had as a coach in the NFL. So youre making assumptions that are unsupported by any evidence while the problem with his philosophy is supported by his statements.

Honeslty, did it look to you like he was lying or even so much as wavering in his conviction when he explained the reasoning behind the strategy?

There's plenty of circumstantial evidence, namely Reid's 14 or so years as coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Let's wait until Pederson actually coaches a few games before we brand him a "loser."

he was just spouting the company line

FF said this is why we burned the time off in his presser,,so doug can't contradict him,,so he has the same explanation..The smart thing to do is score quickly and kick it off to the pats with over 3 mins left and 2 time outs...that would have been the best strat...wasn't his call.

Didnt call him a loser i said he espoused a losers philosophy at his press conference and his unit played not to lose this past weekend. I dont see how his statements are debatable.

Everybody can say that he lied, and it may be true, but right now we only have his opening statement as Eagles coach to go by. And the distressing fact that he studied under the tutelage of a man who we watched play not to lose for 14 seasons in Philly.

The odds suggest he is a true believer of Reids approach and not a liar. But obviously, I hope everyone else is right.

Remember that commercial explaining that parents who use drugs have kids who use drugs? Well, should Pederson take his sweet ass time scoring against the Giants because he doesnt want to give the ball back to Eli just remember he learned it from watching Reid.
