  • Howie says they want to re-sign Bradford

"We've all been clear that we like Sam, and we'd like to have him back. It goes then between all of us and whether we can figure something out that makes sense on both sides,"
Obviously this leaves open the possibility that they can't come to terms. Even if they do re-sign him, I hope they still sign Chase Daniel for when when Bradford's ACL blows out.

Sounds like Howie-speak for "See You Sam". If the Eagles were really willing to pay 16-18M, they would have tagged him.

I agree. Samantha will be wearing a new over-sized jersey this season.

What are people so excited about Chase Daniel? The guy is a midget QB that cant play. Now, if you want to sign him so you can tank and go 4-12 then signing Daniel makes sense.

Most likely they know Bradford won't sniff $20-$22 million per year salary and the Eagles can get him at $16 or $17 million after he tests the market.

Bradford is light years better than any other option they have. that doesnt mean that Bradford is a great QB it just means there are no serious alternatives. chase daniels? youve got to be kidding. if they can get bradford on a three year deal they will be in decdnt shape. or, as common sense would suggest, pay the extra four million or so this season and tag him. thats not a bad move to kick the can down the road another year.

in a league like the nfl tanking is just a really bad idea so they have to try to keep this guy no matter how low his ceiling.

I'm not really excited about this team in general. The way I see it, if we re-sign Bradford he'll blow his knee out and we'll need a second qb. If we draft a rookie, we need a second qb. If we do neither, we need a qb. Under none of those circumstances do I want the qb to be Sanchez. I don't think Daniel is particularly good, but he at least knows the system and he's available. That's about it.

I don't think they are bad enough to tank, with or without Bradford. I thought Bradford played well down the stretch. The only question is whether Pederson wants him to be "the guy." I'm guessing not since they haven't tried to sign him yet. Under that assumption, why keep him around another year, even if he would be the best option skill-wise, and especially if you can tag and trade him and actually get something in return?

I'd rather them sign Bradford to at least the Franchise tag but would prefer a 3 or 4 year cap friendly deal that you can get out of after 2 years, I would also draft one of the 3 1st Rd QB's in the draft this year and let him battle it out.

This would be my preference too with the exception that if Jack Conklin from Michigan State is still there they take him over a QB. I like the idea of having both OT spots locked up for the next five years with talented players and none of the QBs this year are overwhelming talents.

That said, if Pederson really likes one of these QBs skill sets and wants to develop him to replace Bradford Id accept that.

Going into 2016 with a rookie, Daniel or Sanchez at QB is asking for trouble for a very long time.

I honestly don't think Pederson is wrapped up in "the guy" stuff. His "guy" for the portion of his career that got him here was Alex Smith.

Thinking Daniel is the answer is no different than thinking Bradford is the answer. Sure Bradford is better but he's not winning anything here. Those of us that want Daniel feel he gives them the best chance to lose. If they resign Bradford, this team will continue to waste seasons. This season is already over, why not tank?

This defense should improve but lets not go nuts here. The best player just got paid and the rest of the guys haven't done shit. Add Daniel to the offense and they could easily shit the bed this year. Make it happen!! Nobody wants to see the same shit again. Dallas lost Romo and ended up with the #4 pick. It's really not that hard to tank. Call RAJ or Hinkie if you need advice.

The idea behind tanking is to get the number one pick not the number four pick, right?

The sixers and phillies have been bad for more than one season, they continue to be bad and there is nothing to prove that they will be fielding championship rosters once they get out of the gutter so those two franchises are pretty bad examples.

Players and coaches arent going to lose on purpose. So all the people who believe that watson is the answer must also be certain that with sanchez and daniel at the helm the eagles will be the worst team in the league. These people must not watch some of the really bad teams in the nfl. The eagles will not surpass these teams in ineptitude in 2016 so this strategy will likely not work.

If Cleveland, St Louis and San Francisco draft a QB this year, they may not draft one next year. When I think of the other shitty teams, I see Tennessee (Mariota), Jacksonville (Bortles), Chicago (Cutler), Baltimore (Flacco), San Diego (Rivers), and Tampa Bay (Winston). Of course, there are other teams that could shit the bed but I will still include the Eagles in that group. That means they have a chance. In 2012, this team had four wins. They could easily do it again with Daniel playing the role of Vick.

Watson is the man right now but who knows what's going to happen over the next year? There could be another QB that slides up the charts or other better position players that may make a QB slide down the board.

Bradford is not the answer. If he miraculously stays healthy, the ceiling is this team makes the playoffs and loses. That's the ceiling. Keep in mind Bradford put up those numbers in a contract year.

The problem here is that I'm not so sure that Howlo and Lurie aren't perfectly happy with making the playoffs and losing.

It generates enough interest to keep the crab fry business brisk.
