He's a man now.

But Roseman had demonstrated in 2012 and 2013 that he could run a smart, disciplined and creative draft. If he drifted a bit in 2014 -- with Kelly having more input, by the way -- then Kelly’s 2015 disaster was a stark reminder.

That is why Roseman, at 40, should have the experience and the acumen to be better at his job than he was as a 35-year-old eager to make a splash. Nothing is for certain until he does it, of course, but there is at least as much reason to be optimistic as there is to be skeptical.

Flyers: Snider hires Hextall, but Hexy tells him they do things his way or not at all. Hextall brings in respected hockey metrics folk and the team is now building the proper way. Through the draft and keeping their picks and not trading youth for elders. Away with business as usual.


Eagles: Jeffy gets a burr under his saddle and fires Chip. But does he bring in a respected football guy to run the team? Does he even go out and check the landscape of the league to add new blood to the organization to refute the Banner/Howie way of doing things? No. For some reason only palatable to him and the misguided, he gives Howie total control again. Back to the future and the Howieagles are reborn.

I think having Howie back in charge negates any gains that were made by having Chip canned (and I am glad that he was canned).

It's not just his talent evaluation. It's his personality. People don't like him and don't want to work with him. It also appears that when he feels threatened he takes actions that are only geared towards self preservation. It is obvious that he is as toxic as Chip. They probably both needed to go.
