really hard to judge these things without seeing the numbers. Whoever did it, this was the best signing of the last 3 years.

Jenkins was a Howie signing in 2014

The numbers are silly and us fans are going to have to re-calibrate
After a couple years of flat cap, its rising each year and the rate of growth is increasing too.

The top 10 teams have $ 500 million in cap space available
The other 22 teams have another $500 million in available space

        That's $ 1 billion looking for a home...

This is a brand new contract and not an extension. He was set to make $7.1M. I'm curious what this year's cap hit is now.

          Another good player locked up.

They are definitely looking to create cap space for Bradford

Or create some room for Cox.

Jenkins is the most underrated player on the team. If I bought jerseys anymore, I'd get his.

Anyway, good signing as he's been one of the most steady and reliable of the the Defensive backs we've had. Seem's to be really settling into that leadership role the birds have been sorely missing since, well, Dawk. And NO I'm saying Jenkins is Dawk. Focus in the point. Jenkins is a good player to have around, don't know the details but hope it's smart for both sides.

I think this was a good move but it may go against the "tanking" notion

This is a move to secure talent at a market price.

Yeah, CbEagle may be right. Cox's deal wouldn't really necessitate a ton of extra cap this year since they have plenty of time to spread it out, but a shortish-term Bradford deal might. Not to mention, they will probably look to add a couple of 2nd tier FAs.

guaranteed money is the only important number, but you're right.
