I'd still like them to use a later round pick on Cardale Jones. Pederson is supposed to be good with qb's. I think Jones would be a good project worth a later round pick. This is assuming they wouldn't be using the first rounder on a qb.

Absolutely have to draft a QB. I'd take one every year.Blue Chip College Football - Coach Your College to the National Championship

Why's he a bum? Big, athletic qb. A winner. Only got benched because the other qb was a better fit for Meyer's system. There is no qb in this draft that I'm convinced is going to be really good. Would rather take a chance on him in the 5th then blow a 1st rounder on the dude from Memphis."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

I don't think he's long for the NFL. He's the ultimate boom or bust guy and I'd bet on the latter. He really looked like shit a lot last year and got benched. I think NFL defenses are Going to eat him alive.
I wouldn't want to bet on him being great for his price tag. If he's there late in draft and everybody else is gone I might take a flyer. But nothing before 5th round.Last edited by Ellsworth; 02-24-2016, 07:28 AM.

It just seems they all seem to be different levels of bum, meh at best."I feel much better now that my pants are on."- overheard conversation at a Gayte

Agreed.
He has ridiculous physical skills and an arm that is 2nd to none. He also doesn't appear capable of doing much more than locking on original target and trying to laser a ball in to his primary receiver. That will never work long term in the NFL.
A lot of us said he should have taken the money and ran last year before he could potentially fall back to earth.

My hope would be that Pederson could develop him, but you could be right. He could be a complete bust. It would be more of a value pick to me - I'm assuming in this scenario that we re-sign Bradford and hopefully a backup to replace Sanchez. I don't want Jones to be in a position to start right away and I agree about the 5th round. That's where I have seen him slated. Too many other holes to use a higher pick."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

Jones could pan out. Even the professionals who spend night and day analyzing kids miss more often than they hit so it's all a best educated guess and leap of faith.
Personally I'd rather see them (not us) take hogan from Stanford or Brissett from NCSU with a later pick than use a higher one on jones.

Don't know anything about the NC St kid (although I know you have been high on him) but I was really impressed with Hogan in the ND game. I just don't think any of the highly rated qb's are sure things. How certain can you be that the Memphis qb is going to be better than Bissett or Hogan? Or Connor Cook? I'd rather take a later round flyer on one of those guys than use a first round pick on one of the higher rated guys that seem very "meh" to me."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay
