Fair enough. Didn't mean to put words in your mouth. Do you see no real difference between Bradford and Sanchez? To me, there's a difference. If we were talking about a 5 year deal with a big cap hit, I'd be singing a different tune, but I just see no downside to this deal. There's no "Plan B" that is markedly better and it doesn't prohibit them from drafting a qb.
Edited to add - I'm in the camp that believes he will blow out his acl again, because that is just our luck, and to me this is the perfect type of deal to go along with that expectation. That's because starting Bradford even with that expectation is still preferable to starting Sanchez.Last edited by McCarthy12; 03-02-2016, 03:40 PM."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

Actually, I see a real difference. The difference is that Sanchez would be a caretaker until the QB we draft this year is ready. Everybody knows it. With Bumford, Howie and Lurch might be tempted to make a go of it with him, with the same results - mediocrity. That's the difference I see. By the way, you put words in my mouth again; I never said I didn't see a difference.

No I didn't - I asked you a question because I wasn't sure what you thought. Bradford will end up being a caretaker too if he doesn't perform. This contract doesn't scream "franchise quarterback" to me. I see no commitment. I also don't see a qb in this draft that I'm certain could even be as good as Bradford was the second half of the season (which is to say good, but certainly not great)."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

They're not going to tank right anyway. I'd rather watch remotely competent QB play than watch horrible QB play so that they can fuck up tanking.Last edited by Melchior; 03-02-2016, 04:22 PM."If I was racist in my opinion of QB's, I wouldn't have a dog named Donovan." - downundermike

This team doesn't have to try to tank. Just take a different approach. Stop signing big ticket free agents, play the young guys and move on from the players that aren't integral to winning. Bradford's not the answer. Move on. I'm not saying they need to draft first for a QB. I'm saying they need to draft high. The season is a wrap anyway. You mentioned players don't want to wait for a young QB to develop, how long did it take Luck or McNabb? Don't get me wrong, good front offices can find this QB later in the draft. This is not a good front office.

I've already stated that this looks like a business move that was not necessarily made with the goal of a championship in mind, but your premise depends on a quarterback to develop.
Do you have someone in mind who you think is a legit franchise qb prospect who they can draft at the spot(s) they have?Last edited by slag; 03-02-2016, 05:05 PM.Obscenity is the last refuge of an inarticulate motherfucker.

You know what? It's not my job to identify the QB prospect. It's Howie's and they pay him a lot of money to do it. Signing Bumford means that for 2016 either they truly believe no prospect is worth selecting who will be available, which I can accept though time will tell that -- or they punted on the question for another year of mediocre quarterbacking and the 14th pick in the draft next year.

I was just asking because I thought maybe you really had a guy you liked and I was genuinely curious if you thought maybe one of the later guys (ie. Lynch, Cook, Hogan, or Jones) had the chops.
One of the alleviating factors in this for me is that they don't appear to have a way to get Goff or Wentz ... if they did, I'd be grabbing a pitchfork and lighting a torch (with the rest of Philadelphia, I'm pretty sure).Obscenity is the last refuge of an inarticulate motherfucker.
