Have you seen that they're moving forward on making a movie?

Stringer Bell as Roland Deschain and Rust Cohle as Walter O' Dim.

I think both are good choices.

Idris Elba as the gunslinger and Mathew McConaughey as the man in black...
Stephen King thumbs up on Elba saying he is perfect for the role

Supposedly starts shooting next month for a 2017 release.

Yeah. There's been some blowback arguing that the Detta dynamic will be ruined but I don't think so. I'm more curious about how much of the series they're going to cover and in what medium.

When taking it to the screen was discussed earlier (years ago) there were rumors of it being split between films and TV series.

        Woooooooooooooooo.............Finally!!

My favorite book series ever and I was thinking these movies would never get out of the idea phase. I really hope they do a good job with these though I think the technology now will allow them to do so. Odd choice of Elba but I really like him and think it will work (my choice would've been Anson Mount from Hell on Wheels). He'll probably be glad that he didn't get selected as Bond as these movies will be epic.

The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed...

          Mixed feelings.

I enjoyed it, but I think a lot of that stemmed from the easter eggs and references to things that maybe only Dark Tower and Stephen King fans will understand.

I'd be curious to hear how well someone who hasn't read the series grasped the plot.

I'm glad I saw it, but I doubt this the beginning of a multi-movie saga.

I'm hyped. I know it wont follow the books but my understanding is its just another iteration of Rolands trip to the tower which apparently changes each time (remember he had the horn of eld in the books?). So some of the stuff like Roland being black or the story being mixed up/changed/out of order I can dismiss with that. I wish King would've been able to get a series deal like Game Of Thrones, I think that would have best suited the Dark Tower.
If you’re not from here, you don’t understand it. If you don’t understand it, you hate it. And if you hate it, we hate you.

I think there is still a TV related plan that covers Roland's younger days.

Part of me would like to have seen the book series as a whole turned into a TV series, but part of me thinks it could never do it justice.

In my opinion, the best movies made from King books are Misery, Shawshank, Green Mile, etc. They're not as sci-fi/fantasy as something like DT.

I'm still hoping IT is good though.

Saw it today. It wasn't trash but not great. I just finished the series two weeks ago. I didn't expect it to follow the pilgrimage in the books but an alternate version. If you never read the books, you would probably ask for your money back. My girl from Vikings looked sexy tho
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.
