the perfect situation would be to put all the parents in the room with a television feed from the game. Keep them away from the fields and courts and rinks. It would be SO much better.
And I'm sure you also found that the parents that bitched the most were the ones that typically did the least. Oh, and they were also the ones that treated practices like DayCare. Drop off their kids...not just the player(s) but kids...and disappear. I see that you've coached youth sports
My biggest mistake was communicating ANYTHING to the parents. It's probably one of my biggest failings in life. Just can't keep my mouth shut. Diarrhea of the mouth. I'll tell you one thing: Those girls walked around with their heads held high with a coach who was their biggest fan. I wasn't standing around with my arms folded in practice talking to some other father. I was running backstops with them. I hope that in some small way I had a positive effect on every young woman's self esteem. Same thing with HereIsAkers and his baseball teams that I coached. I miss those guys chanting in the dugout, all fired up, rallying. It was a great time.Comment
