then they could just pull it or trade him with no baggage.

Ok, so there you go. That was the option if you were, in any way, thinking you might make a play into the top two. I still think they should be able to move him, but that was a blunder by Howie.

There will probably be a few teams still needing a qb when the draft approaches. Denver, Jets, SF. Can't think of any others off the top of my head. If you can't make a deal with one of those then you just have to take what you can get.

Bradford won't take less money and nobody is going to trade for that contract. I guess the Eagles could pay some of it but they'd have to get a worthwhile draft pick. Not a sixth rounder.

I think he stays. Any camp he misses is fine with me. More reps for Wentz.

I don't think the hit is that bad for the team that acquires him. Worse for the Eagles, which is probably why they were going to keep him. Now they don't have much of a choice. A malcontent is bad enough. A malcontent who is one more injury away from have zero trade value is worthless.

I dont think the Eagles can just eat a portion of the contract in order to deal him. Football is different from other sports in that regard. The only was they can pay for some of Bradford's deal is to wait until they trade him. As he reports to training camp and starts receiving his salary the amount of money the Eagles are responsible for paying him decreases, obviously. Also, I think at a certain point (maybe june 1st) the Eagles can get a little cap relief in a trade because they can prorate his signing bonus across 2016 and 2017 instead of absorbing everything they paid bradford into one season. Im guessing they might wait until then to deal him and they get Denvers third round pick in 2017 when all is said and done.

Bradford is a valuable trade commodity with a two year contract plus a team can franchise him (no laughing) if he turned out to be a world beater.

If the Eagles franchised him this year, he would offer much less value. As far as the Eagles eating 11 million on June 1st? No big deal, it's not like signing Norman or another FA is the answer to put this team over the top.

So unless there is news today (I've been off line) that I'm not aware of, this appears to be well calculated by Howie.
