Ironic Miami got the player at 13. Despite the nonsense, he is probably going to be good.--------

Yeah it doesn't make sense. Maybe they weren't really clued in to the qb's because they had no scouting staff in place, which is its own issue. Otherwise, the initial assessment was that there was no franchise guy here. Seems to have been the assessment of most teams.
On the bright side, Wentz is extremely likeable. Now it's on Doug and Frank to get him ready.Last edited by McCarthy12; 04-30-2016, 08:41 AM."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

Really think esgles left a pick or 2
On the table by not trading back To take the OL. I doubt anyone else grabs him that high. Eagles could have added much needed pick(s) and still got their guy.
Just my gut feeling.
Man I'm pissed steelers snagged Hargrave from ST st. Really hoped Eagles would grab him.

I think, this is how it makes sense
If you're going to trade up to get a franchise QB, you're going to have to trade a future first round pick. If you're trading up, then your team is probably not terrible. So, you might as well try to be competitive next year - that's why you sign Bradford short term.
If they signed him long term, as was allegedly offered, then I don't think they move up and draft Wentz. I think Bradskirt sealed his fate when he refused that deal. As far as money, it's irrelevant assuming the cap is under control. Money spent this year doesn't matter except as to signing cox.
speaking of which, they still have Cox with 1-2 years left (depending on the franchise tag). He's movable if you want and I think you pay him if you go with a the young franchise QB (because you don't have to pay him for a while, if he's good).
Also, once Bumford refused and took the short deal, the plan was set to try to move up. Daniel was the backup plan in many ways, but they had to overpay to keep him in.
The nice thing is, if it blows up, Howie and Pedey will be gone fairly quickly. Worst case is we end up like the new rams and jeff fisher
