That Cardinals series was the wheels coming off moment. Three bad losses, coming into a series against a red hot team, on the road, down in all three games... it could have been an easy sweep. Didn't happen.

This was the best series win since the glory days. They're a resilient little team. And Mack is a hell of a manager.

I think he has really got this team playing lose. It was house money all year. The better part has been, all those loses have been close ones. This team doesn't really get pummeled all the often (well see what the cubbies do at the end of the month). Young teams lose close games - it happens. But it shows a lot of promise for the future.

They can't hit. I'd be more excited about them if they had a nucleus of young hitters just before their prime. There's Franco, Herrera and nothing. Goeddell hernandez galvis ruf howard rupp and bourjos don't strike me as a particularly bright future. The pitching is good right now but once the weather heats up, i think it's going to get a lot harder for this team to stay in games.

they're just in the minors. Like I said, it's a house money year, this team was supposed to be miserable, but they're getting quality starts, solid pen work and timely hitting. They have the #1 pick this summer and several chances at hitting on prospects and could make a difference very soon.

The problem is, the most ready prospect (IMHO) are blocked still - Knapp can't come up with Chooch and Rupp still here. Tommy Joseph is blocked by Ruf and Howard.

still - it's a bright future and I think they're at least fun to watch right now.
