  • This woman announcing the Olympic parade is a a$$hole.

She can not pronounce the name of the country of Uruguay properly.

It's uru guy, not uru gay.

Really it should be uru gwaay.

    I find this completely obnoxious.

She also got a lot of other stuff wrong. The word insipid comes to mind.

PS. Costas sucks too. Also WTF all the commercial breaks.

John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

Ehh. Matt Lauer, Bob Costas, I can tell no difference.

As far as the opening ceremony is concerned, I didn't really like it.

But I've never been a big fan of major orchestrated productions like that.

I do like the parade of nations (minus the commentary) though.

Costas is doing the studio hosting

and he is no Jim McKay.

Lauer, I think, is trying to be Costas.

To me the parade of nations IS the opening ceremony...did not tune in for the other BS. I loved the informality of it and everyone seemed to be having a great time despite all the negative stuff we've been hearing about these Olympics.

Also...on a personal note...that stadium was originally built in the early 50s to host World Cup soccer and its original capacity was over 200,000. Red Klotz and the Generals played there before the largest crowd to ever witness a basketball game (at that time) and he always raved about it. Kind of cool it is now hosting an Olympics.
