Trade Brent Celek to gain a mid-round pick to someone like Detroit (looks they lost Ebron today)? One good note I've been reading daily is that Trey Burton looks great...

Nope. With our suspect WRs and RBs, our TE group is going have to carry a lot of the load of moving the chains. Celek also helps the running game more than Ertz or Burton.

Also, I don't think trading Celek this offseason goes with the feel-good vibe Howie's trying to create with these contract extensions.

For me it would depend on how the rest of the roster shakes out.

If there's a guy on the bubble who the team would like to keep, but there is no roster spot for him then I would consider it.

But to hell with the feel-good. If Celek wants to win, he's got a better chance in another spot, and I could see it happening. If Howie's trying to build this team for the future primarily through making deals with aging vets, he will be gone.

Gotta build the team up through picks, too.

Trade Burton if he looks that good and get more.

I'm no NFL contract expert, but I don't think trading an NFL player f*cks him money wise. It may upset his living situation but it doesn't F him with regards to salary. In fact it may offer the opportunity to negotiate a new deal with more money guaranteed!

With the state of wr's they need to go 3 TE sets as much as possible. That's sounding likely from articles I've read.

Much depends on what Pederson's long term plan is.

I agree with this. However, I think Howie is trying to re-establish a positive team culture now through some of the personnel moves. He's making sure the locker room is full of high character players who have Philly roots and are happy with their contract.

And, yes, I realize that this should be the head coach's job. However, I get the sense that Howie realizes that Doug is not yet a world-beater and will need some help with righting the ship. Whether this was a quality that Howie liked during the hiring process because it gives him power, or whether he's just acknowledging the reality of the situation could be debated either way.

Celek has two restaurants in Philly that are both doing well. This is his home, I get the impression he doesn't want to "go somewhere to win". He wants to retire here

                        That would break Zoli's heart.
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.
