  • Alfaro Getting Called Up

per Jeff Passan of Yahoo sports.

He was part of the Hamels deal. Chooch deal opened up the chance for him. I saw him a bunch in Reading this year, he's fun to watch.

    mad skill set

Once he learns how to master a pitching staff and call a game and if he can stay healthy, he could be very very good. Cannon for an arm. Can hit for average and power. Dude has all the tools.
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

Velasquez pitched rehab in Reading this year and was singing the praises of Alfaro, so he's already making some headway with the big league staff (though I think they ultimately convert VV to a closer, but that's a different subject)

I think he was getting the called regardless of chooch. Alfaro's been on the 40 man roster, so calling him up was a no-brainer in terms of the big ballclub. However, I'm surprised they won't leave him down there for their playoff run. Who knows.

I tend to agree. Unfortunately, they don't actually have a starter with elite stuff besides VV.

I meant that the Chooch move facilitates the timing of Alfaro getting called up. He had a good shot of getting called up once rosters expanded, but needing to bridge the few day gap between Chooch and Ellis is what made it possible to call him now.

Also, he's not up for good, just until Ellis shows up, then he will be back down, for the playoff run in Reading.

I did not see that before.
