  • Treggs scouting report

Not good. It's all kind of like this.

...his biggest weaknesses are his size and durability. While there are a lot of successful smaller receivers (e.g., Hilton, John Brown just to name two), they have blazing speed and Treggs doesn't (despite what his combine numbers said—he never showed out that way collegiately in my opinion). Treggs didn't miss a lot of games, but seemed to be banged up a lot. Given that he's probably a slight minus athletically, I think it'll be really difficult for him to stick in the NFL.
We chatted with our Cal blog about the 49ers UDFA receiver addition. They talked about his strengths and weaknesses, and what he brings to the table as a receiver.

How is this guy an upgrade over Turner?

      Doesn't sound like he is.

They obviously like his 4.4 speed. After Kelly gutted this roster of all the speed receivers it seems Pederson really wants a guy who can stretch the field if the situation warrants it. I have a feeling Turner will get signed to the practice squad anyways so I have no problem with this move.

He averaged 21 yds a catch his senior season at Cal and he didnt miss a game since his freshman year so this guy who is questioning his durability is simply basing that off his slight frame and not any history of issues.

Seriously, we spent the past two years complaining that they couldnt take the top off a defense and this is the first move they made, outside of taking a flyer on Givens that didnt work out, to try to remedy this problem.

The person doing the scouting report is "boomtho"

I don't recall his scouting acumen being heralded prior to your unearthing of this nugget.

The video linked below (agreed, it's highlights) shows him taking some shots across the middle and having the ability to find the ball. I'm OK with him being the 5th WR, one who probably won't be active on gamed initially:

It was two California Golden Bear fans. For football, I'll take their observations over a stop watch reading.
