  • Nice beginning to the Senor Wentzes area.

He made some damn nice throws. He made a huge variety of throws that Sammy Sleeves could only dream about.

One interesting camera shot focused on his eyes as he did his progressions. And, unlike Sammy, they only needed one camera to follow both of his eyes as they focused in the same direction.

All in all a nice game upon which to build.

Great performance for the rookie. He took a lot of hits and that's never good.

Sammy Sleeves lazy eye always freezes the free safety. Advantage Sammy.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

I was impressed. It's the Browns, yes, but I didn't expect him to look so sharp as a rookie with limited preseason action.

      He definitely belongs.

Some of his throws were pure money.

Yes, as you said, it was the Browns, but the kid didn't look overwhelmed. On the contrary, he was barking out orders at the line and looked good.

You couldn't watch that game and not come away impressed.

There, a double negative for KG to jump on.

            indeed

and they can say "well it was the Browns" all they want. It was still the kid's first NFL game and he had very little preseason work.

            Impressive to say the least.

Wentz didn't look like a rookie at all- poised, barking hard counts like a vet, reading and reacting to the defensive looks. He still struggles with staying on his first read and if it isn't there, he has trouble finding the other options. He was EXTREMELY Impressive, tho. Definitely needs footwork help, he looked timid in the pocket with regards to tucking and running at times. He took a few extra big shots that could of been avoided if he moved in the pocket a little better. He gets too flat footed at times. I fucking love the maturity and toughness Wentz showed. The Browns stink but he has another week to prepare and work on the aspects that didn't go so well. I would of liked to see more out of DGB but it was nice to see ugholor make a play

The only criticism I can come up with - and it's a stretch - is that he needs to ease up on the hand gestures when he's in shotgun. The refs are going to be calling false starts on the QB a lot more this year (it was a point of emphasis from the league), and I'm surprised that he only got called for it once.

Other than that, I really liked his control and poise. Impressive start.
