I just checked out a couple of other things this guy did on that website ... if he doesn't end up on a bigger venue (NLF Network, ESPN etc) something's wrong with whoever scouts talent for them.

Good stuff. One thing he didn't mention was the first TD throw. The play was designed to go to Ertz coming across the middle, and he was right where he needed to be. But Wentz read the man coverage on Matthews - provided he could look the safety off, which he did just a little - and took a shot.

What's really surprising is how little time they have had to practice together, and it seemed like one of those QB-WR chemistry plays that you get when guys are more familiar with each other's play.

I believe his thumbs down applies to just about every rookie's first game. Like he said, what will be important, is to see if Wentz can correct his issues with experience. I believe the tip balls can be corrected sooner and as the game slows down, Wentz will be able to refine his game and look off DBs. He's got to be the one to learn that, though.

Does anyone believe Bradford makes that dart throw across the middle to Matthews? You have to have confidence in your arm to make that throw. Foxworthy is right about the arm... It's something you can't teach.


Im prepared for some bumps in the road. One thing to add, Wentz held the ball longer because the line simply afforded him that opportunity. On the 4th down coverversion, he displayed a very quick mind. There is no doubt he is going to face some tougher defenses and getting rid of the ball faster on a consistent basis against a formidable opponent will be his next big challenge.

He had a lot of tipped balls? I remember the tipped screen that Agholor caught. Was there another tip?

Pretty good write-up. I disagree that he "stared down receivers" regularly. The backside dig to Matthews between 2 defenders was at least his 2nd read once he identified 2 deep safeties. He looked the safety off on the TD to Matthews, etc. he does need to not be so stationary when he has room in the pocket though. On that crazy throw to Matthews, he really could've made more space and not taken such a big hit.

I wish I could find a clip of it, but there's a play where he turns his entire body toward the RB flaring out in the flat and stares straight at him, drawing the defenders down and then fired a no-look slant to Matthews who was freed up by it.
