I know this sounds gay but it was much more emotional than I expected. 31+ years in the same place - spent more time there than anything else in my life. Heading to Canada right now for annual fishing trip, will take some time for this to fully sink in.

Congrats, and I think that feeling is not geigh at all. I've worked at the same place for more than 27 years and would have a strong feeling about leaving.

But I'll keep working as long as they will have me. NYC is so expensive I just feel the need to build up as much savings as possible. Having said that, extremely unlikely I will stay in the NYC area when I retire.

take some time off and relax, but also grab life by the balls while you have the chance. My mom was retired for 3 years, my dad for 2 and they had plenty of plans to travel, do this and that, and she had a big stroke and is in a wheelchair. Take advantage of your relative youth and do what you've always dreamed!
