OT- The Magnificent Seven
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.Tags: None

Interesting to note the "original" was actually based on a Japanese movie.

On another matter I always have liked the Clash song, although I didn't see the connection with the movie. I think Mick Jones just liked Western movies.

I don't think any connection to the movie was intended. Just Strummer playing with words.
This is interesting from Wikipedia. The Clash will always be legends!
"The Magnificent Seven" represents the first attempt by a rock band to write and perform original rap music, and one of the earliest examples of hip hop records with political and social content. It is the first major white rap record, predating the recording of Blondie's "Rapture" by six monthsBlue Chip College Football - Coach Your College to the National Championship

To quote Carl's joke-telling boss from Sling Blade: "it's a classic."
As for the original American western version, it is credited with launching James Coburn from a supporting actor on tv to a movie star ... and Steve McQueen stole the show to become the "coolest" actor in Hollywood.
At the risk of sounding like the old man yelling to get off my lawn ... this looks like modern Hollywood trying to capitalize on younger audiences not being familiar with either of the others and, from the reviews, doing an ok western.
I like Pyne and Washington, but I'm thinking I'll wait and watch it on HDTV.Obscenity is the last refuge of an inarticulate motherfucker.
