They still have a month or so before the season starts. Hopefully he'll be back soon. This blows.

Un-fucking-real. I'll believe it when I actually see Embid play too.

God hates Philadelphia sports. This is one of the things that worries me about Señor Wentz.

Anyway with regards to Simmons' injury it's typically a 6-8 week injury assuming everything goes well. But that is for an non athlete. I don't know what kind of rehab has to happen after the injury is healed.

        https://medlineplus.gov/ency/patient...ons/000571.htm
There are five metatarsal bones in your foot. The 5th metatarsal is the outer bone that connects to your little toe. It is the most commonly fractured metatarsal bone.

A break in the part of your 5th metatarsal bone closest to the ankle is called a Jones fracture. This area of the bone has low blood flow. This makes healing difficult.

An avulsion fracture occurs when a tendon pulls a piece of bone away from the rest of the bone. An avulsion fracture on the 5th metatarsal bone is called a "dancer's fracture."
        What to Expect

If your bones are still aligned (meaning that the broken ends meet), you will probably wear a cast or splint for 6 to 8 weeks.

You may be told not to put weight on your foot. You will need crutches or other support to help you get around.
You may also be fitted for a special shoe or boot that may allow you to bear weight.

If the bones are not aligned, you will need surgery. A bone doctor (orthopedic surgeon) will do your surgery. After surgery you will wear a cast for 6 to 8 weeks

One of the Lopez twins had this injury a few years ago. He was out for five months. I would imagine they will take their time with Simmons, especially after the Embiid debacle.

This is probably a blessing in disguise. Next year's draft is stacked and this will help their positioning. My guess is that he will still end up playing 70% of the season.

Yes. Because you always want your young stars to get hurt

              and retard their development.

God I hope this is one of those Ellsworthian 'I didn't really mean it' posts.

Getting an injury like that is never a blessing in disguise. Especially for a big man.

It's before your time, but older board members will remember when Arlo said something like this.

In an attempt to Overbrook the thread...

did you see where Barnetta isn't coming back after this season? He's going to finish up his playing days in Switzerland. That guy has scored some sick goals this year. I don't know if Bedoya is as good as him, but I suppose we'll just have to trust Ernie to find someone that can do that sort of thing from the midfield.

Jesus Christ we are all going to die someday. I am sick of my NBA team playing like shit and being one of the worst teams year after year. This injury is a dagger. I do not expect to see Simmons playing until at least the New Year. Hope I am wrong, but this is brutal news.

I did. He's been a good player for them. I'm not a huge fan of Bedoya, although that goal last weekend was nice.
