It's just so inconsistent. I'm sure like with many things social media and 24 hour news are, to some extent, magnifying a problem that has always existed. There's no reason for a billion dollar enterprise to have part time officials. They should be studying tape during the week and working on their craft just like the players do. They should be subject to some sort of discipline for making bad mistakes just like the players. It's the only way it can be fixed. They aren't going to get better at their craft officiating NCAA basketball games and arguing summary judgment motions during the week.

If they really wanted to fix it, replay would be the ticket

I don't mean the long, drawn out replay we're used to. Head strikes to the QBs or defenseless receivers can be seen on TV almost immediately after the play.

It won't happen, but it could and would make the game less reliant on the shortcomings of the on field asswipes
