fletcher's hit on Rodgers looks like nothing compared to the face-smack that Bradford got.
I love that the official told him, "no, you got hit in the shoulder pad"...say what?“I am going to literally sodomize you on the field of battle. I am going to have non-consensual sex with your face and your butt. Then I’m going after your wife and kid”

I guess Wentz got hit in the shoulder pad at the end of the Giants game, too.
It's just so inconsistent. I'm sure like with many things social media and 24 hour news are, to some extent, magnifying a problem that has always existed. There's no reason for a billion dollar enterprise to have part time officials. They should be studying tape during the week and working on their craft just like the players do. They should be subject to some sort of discipline for making bad mistakes just like the players. It's the only way it can be fixed. They aren't going to get better at their craft officiating NCAA basketball games and arguing summary judgment motions during the week.Last edited by McCarthy12; 12-02-2016, 10:10 AM."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

If they really wanted to fix it, replay would be the ticket
I don't mean the long, drawn out replay we're used to. Head strikes to the QBs or defenseless receivers can be seen on TV almost immediately after the play.
It won't happen, but it could and would make the game less reliant on the shortcomings of the on field asswipes

A slightly different version of the same story without all of the NFL-friendly referee apologists appeared on CNN.com today.
From the NFL.com version...

However, lost in this conversation is the opinion of the referees currently under contract on a part-time basis, who, as NFL Network's Judy Battista pointed out on Friday's edition of Up to the Minute, might not want to seek year-round employment with the league.
"I don't think that solves the problem," Battista said of adding full-time officials. "First of all, one problem is the refs don't want to be full-time because that would mean giving up their real jobs and that's where they make their money. I'm not quite sure the NFL wants to pay them enough to be full-time refs."

The NFL really makes me ill.
