first point was right too since running would have kept possession of the ball and maybe a first down and some more clock off the clock and maybe another touchdown to go up 31-12 of 35-12.

Could not agree more. The first one more than any 3rd and 1 with Freeman who could get a yard in his sleep and you pass. Worst case in that situation is you punt and make Brady go 70+ yards, maybe he does maybe he doesn't, but it would have chewed up the clock.
