Hard to predict where he (in terms of ability) and the Phillies (in terms of outfield talent) will be at in 2019, but I think the Phils offer a mega-contract to either him or Machado (if Franco doesn't pan out) that offseason.

Phils have shit for outfield depth. Nick Williams has been garbage except for 1/2 season in 2015. Altherr is a 4th outfielder type, Quinn can't stay on the field. Hoskins is a 1b. Honestly, it makes a ton of sense.

Trout trade is a total pipe dream. The Phils definitely appear to have a need for an elite outfielder/hitter though, so the fit is there. Also, the Angels farm system is destitute and the Phils have the prospects to make it happen. However, that cost would be very very high.

And any trade would include Trout signing an extension for, my guess, an AAV for $40 mil per season.
