wentz needs continuity but they can still go BPA at 14 and this contract is hardly an albatross. i can't get mad about it.

WTF is the point of having that player for a year?

If he proves himself they'll extend him?

No ... if he proves himself he's a fucking free agent.

You either believe in the guy or you don't spend the fucking money at all.

I think it means they are targeting WR in the first round.

So... would you rather have current shit group + Jeffery on a 1-yr rental + potential high pick or just current shit group + potential high pick.

This just gives them flexibility. I don't see the downside.

If he has success with Wentz I'm sure the interest in signing an extension will be mutual.

edit to add: what else would they be spending the $ on?

                        A " Show Me " contract....

...stay off the PEDs, prove you can still produce.

                        Works for me.

...I think it doesn't box them in so much for the 1st round....easier to go DB or DE if they want.

How can they afford a 1-yr $14M contract? I thought they started the day with around $8m of space, add $7m more or so for Barwin, then sign all these guys and draft others - I don't see how they can make that work.

Well it certainly doesn't box them in short or long term. I just think there are some appealing WRs that should be there when the Eagles pick. Might might be nice to draft one and let him develop next to some vets. Then the next season there is no obligation to the vets.

I'd like to see them sign a CB in FA. Not a top tier guy. That would give them more flexibility in the draft as well.
