  • Remember Joe Banner Didn’t Want Over 30 Players

I know they got it done 2 years ago but with a lot of injuries as well. His theory is not too far fetched. I think they need to revisit that again.

THEY HAVE TO HAVE OVER 30 PLAYERS TO FILL THE ROSTER.

Joe's problem was making it a hard and fast rule. He let some seriously important vets walk. He also signed cheap replacement vets like Levon Kirkland.

The trick is striking a balance. Howie's problem seems like it's hubris. Just because he hit on everyone in 2017 doesn't mean lightning strikes twice. You need a mix and you need to self-scout well. You also need good luck.

ya 2017 was magical. Usually for over 30's to work as you do need vets, you need a good core of young players which means great drafting, something this team doesn't really do too well.

Misplaced hubris. A lot of those acquisitions were made out of necessity because they botched a slam dunk draft (specifically at running back).

Agreed with JoeLo's problem and with HowLo's problem. Also agree on the good luck factor.

And a lot of this year's situations (DL injuries/Cox's return from injuries, Desean's absence, shitty CB play) would be lessened if they got it right on bringing in the near-30/over-30 guys, making the right draft calls, AND better coaching.

The coaching may be a bigger issue than age or hitting big on a particular player at a particular position. Groh and his crew is overmatched, Philip Daniels ain't blowin' my skirt up, and Undlin has been having a bit of a free pass through two head coaches.

                level of agreement: 100%

but many of those 2017 acquisitions were because of Chip. I still think Howie and Joe follow the same gameplan. They want a perpetual playoff team. Kind of the opposite of the Rams right now.

Luckily Keanu Neal, can’t catch, Nick Foles recovered a fumble on the goal line and most importantly Brandon Graham made a magical play or this would be even harder to swallow.
