  • Two stats from Reuben Frank's latest column

    1. The Eagles haven't drafted a Pro Bowl defensive player aside from Fletcher Cox since 2006

Two thousand fucking SIX? You could throw a dart at a list of defensive players and do better.

    2. The Eagles haven't had a 100 yard rusher in 40 straight games

    Reid 2.0

Makes it surprising that they won a Lombardi at all looking at if that way, really explains a lot of what’s happening now. As always I’ll be cheering like hell at 1pm but damn we need some fucking talent and people to actually find it. Who the fuck are our starting LB’s now??

      The first is alarming.

      I’m fine with the second.

Yeah, who needs a bell cow? Especially when you're good at defense.

2017 Eagles were the obvious example a team that didn't.

Over the past 10+ years it hasn't been common for an SB team to use a feature back. It's fine to have one but it's not a necessity.

Doug Pederson is a run-heavy coach. Having one guy get a bulk of the carries doesn't really make a difference.

Yes it does ... when you have to game plan for a guy it changes the defense and having a home run hitter could keep Gomer from his bad propensity for abandoning the run earlier than necessary

Just as the no 100-yard runner stat in a vacuum does not account for spreading the ball, a run/pass ratio stat in a vacuum doesn't dictate a conclusion that "run heavy" Gomer is Three Yards and a Cloud of Dust when he's actually far from it (and Wentz has the bruises to prove that)

How do you explain the fact that of the past 12 SB winners, only 4 have had 1000-yard rushers? 2 of those guys were Brandon Jacobs and LeGarrette Blount. Hardly home run hitters.

Gomer doesn't abandon the run earlier than necessary. The year that Wentz suffered his biggest injury, the Eagles passed 55% of the time. 24th in the NFL. I'm not sure how that's a stat in a vacuum. There's no reason to be a three yards and a cloud of dust team, but Gomer isn't pass-happy.

Concerning the FF and Gomer comparisons, are we assuming that both are bad coaches?

                  Why is 12 years significant?

I just don't understand the argument. Are the Eagles more likely to win a Super Bowl because they don't have Elliott, CMC, Cook, Kamara, or Josh Jacobs, just because RBBC's have been successful in recent years (even though the lion's share of that success was at the hands of Tom Brady)? I really don't know what this argument is saying.

it's weird that BG has never made a pro bowl.

                        Sacks. That's the only reason.

Man, too bad we don't have a 100 yard rusher.
