I read the book and liked it but thought it was a lot of fabricated BS, which evidently has been proven to be true. The Gallo murder part was beyond laughable.

In light of that feeling, my family here for T-day (deep fried possum), and the fact it's over 3:30 long.. I haven't gotten around to seeing the movie yet. And, I'm not sure I will, frankly. Some people I trust are really shitting all over it. other people love it.

I don't know if I have ever heard such a difference of opinion on a movie in my life (and from people whose opinions I totally respect).

Sounds like it's an hour too long and DeNiro looks like a goddamned Terminator the entire flick.

Wife and I got through the first hour and thirty. So far, I like it. It's a little slow, but I like the genre (even if I feel like I've seen this movie before a thousand times) and the cast is awesome. My wife thinks it is a little boring.

The range of opinions is all over the place. I thought it was great.

I thought this was going to be an IG post
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

I've been digesting it in 45-50 minute chunks. Over Thanksgiving my nephew told me he liked it but it is super long.

              I kinda like it.

One interesting thing for me: In the early part of the movie there are some scenes set in Pittston, PA. My mom's family is from the Wyoming Valley (Nanticoke) there. My Uncle Jake (my mom's uncle) lived in Pittston... probably the only non Polock (Italian) member of my mom's side of the family. It was never explicitly stated but was insinuated that Uncle Jake was "connected". I was just a kid but even I knew what that meant. I liked Uncle Jake.

I thought it was a little slow but good. Love seeing the 3 Dons back together for at least one last mob flick.

I took about five hours to get through it. I was constantly looking things up for the historical context. I thought it was fascinating.

It's a very talky movie... but I love Zaillian's dialogue, so I enjoyed it a lot. The usual Scorsese soundtrack was noticeably absent, but Robbie Robertson's score is pretty damn good. Anyone looking for Goodfellas or Casino is probably going to be disappointed. It's definitely your grandfather's mob movie... which I guess makes me the grandfather now.

The Hoffa flick with Jack Nick was really good too. It's crazy how big and ruthless the mafia was back then. They pretty much ran everything across the country. They were even asked to help get rid of Castro.

I FINALLY FINISHED WATCHING IT. WAS JUST OK, BUT THE CAST ALONE WORTH WATCHING, IF YA CAN STAY AWAKE.

I liked it. I think the buzz that started two months ahead of release and the length of the movie itself are why some people are lukewarm about it.

Exactly, no shoobie talk or clams.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

The de-aging is also kind of off-putting at first. You get used to it after a while, but you really notice it at first.
