Re: your "when men were men" Gibson post.

From Phil Mushnick's column in the NY Post as he commiserates about the state of baseball today:

"In case you needed another reminder of what baseball has done to baseball, Friday the Padres used nine pitchers in nine innings to beat the Cardinals, 4-0.

Friday,Bob Gibson died. He pitched three complete game wins in the 1967 World Series."

Bob Gibson started nine World Series games between 1964 and 1968. The only one he did not finish was his first start against the Yankees in 1964. He went eight innings. His following start he went ten innings.

The dorkametricians shudder at your post.
Ewwwww. They say. EWWWWWW! What was his pitch count?
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

"Gibson almost won the World Series himself,” said Yaz. “It’s hard to do in baseball. But he was different.”
