  • Those who say Wentz Holds the Ball to Long

Did you watch the Packers game ? Rodgers holds the ball and stands back there eating a sandwich waiting for someone to get open. His OL holds for him and eventually receivers get open. If those 2 things do not happen tell me what Wentz is suppose to do, throw it away 1st, 2nd and 3rd down ? Doug will not run the ball so this is all on Wentz.

When wentz holds the ball to long his natural instincts to throw a good pass are gone, they sail, they hit the turf, wide right, wide left. No, his best throws are quicker ones, no time to over think it

I get it man, you are holding on to the same hope that I had - that the eagles had their franchise QB. Hell, I wish he played like Rodgers too - but he is nowhere near that level.

They keep stats on average time to throw and Wentz is in the top 5, well above Rodgers. Wentz = 40 sacks, Rodgers = 11 sacks. Wentz looks like a nervous deer in the pocket far too often - would love it if he was calm enough to act like he is "back there eating a sandwich"

          8. Wentz’s passer rating is 73.3 and just to get an idea of how bad that is for a QB with his experience, consider this: The last NFL quarterback with a passer rating under 75 in his fifth season who had a rating of at least 100 in ANY of his first four seasons is Frankie Albert, who had a 102.9 rating in 1948 for the 49ers and a 52.3 rating in 1950, his fifth season. That was 70 years ago.

          9. And let’s be clear about one thing. Wentz isn’t just having one of the worst seasons of any QB this year, he’s having one of the worst seasons in NFL history. He’s on pace to become only the sixth quarterback in the last 40 years to throw 22 interceptions, complete less than 60 percent of his passes and average less than 6.2 yards per attempt in a season. The last one to do it in his fifth year as a starter or later is Joe Ferguson in 1983. This is historic stuff Wentz is putting together here.

I'm actually going to almost agree with gobfather on something. Basically, as long as we (that's right) have 4-5 different offensive consultant/coordinator/kibitzers, it doesn't matter who you put in as QB they will all have brain salad problems due to the different people whispering in the QB's ear. WENTZ will get another year at least, and it will most likely be with an empowered OC, and Gomer might survive through next year as well.

Nobody is disagreeing with you, but there is a reason, I think it's what I posted, he can not release the ball in less than 3 seconds if nobody is open and if he holds it longer than that the OL cannot do their job and he gets hit.
