Not that I care one way or another if Fipp is special teams coordinator next year, but this a really petty and shitty but of course typical move by the Geek Squad. There’s no guarantee that Fipp will be retained. They just fuck with a guy’s life for spite.

Fipp has one more year on his contract. So they are restricting him from going with a new coach who would undoubtedly give him a 3-4 year deal (the new Detroit coach received a 6 year deal!)

One reason would be that Duce wants Fipp and has made that clear and Howie wants Fipp to twist in the wind until he and Jeff make up their freaking minds on HC. Another reason might be that everyone they are interviewing for HC has mentioned that they want to keep Fipp (and Stoutland?). I think Howie isn't doing it for spite, I think he's covering his butt. Same deal with Stoutland, at first he was going to Bama but when HC candidates said they wanted him on their staff, he stays...
