Howie could be playing 4th dimensional chess trying to prove to Wentz how much the Eagles value him.
Or he might just not know wtf he's doing.
Howie is trying to trade the 34th ranked quarterback in the NFL with a monstrous contract and colorable claims of being uncoachable and a poor teammate who insists on leaving. Either he doesn’t understand that the Lions got two first round picks in order to take Goff’s contract off the Rams’ hands, a/k/a a Brock Osweiler trade, or he thinks we are too stupid to get that. Howie did not deal himself a great hand.

Yeah I think he's overplaying his hand. Just
pondering what happens if Howie decides not to trade Wentz because he can't get a deal he likes. Does Wentz hold out? Wentz hasn't definitively demanded a trade. He could show up all sunshine at training camp.
Was Bradford worth a 1st rounder? In fact, was he worth Foles and a 2nd rounder?
Teams will overpay for a QB if they think he can be the guy - while Wentz had an awful 2020 he also has had a season that will lead teams to believe he can win a SB with the right surrounding cast.
If the Colts and Bears believe in Wentz - the Eagles have all the leverage here and should be asking for a lot.

Well, Bradford lead the league in completion percentage the year the Vikings gave a first rounder for him, so probably worth it.

Obviously what makes this different is Wentz's huge contract. The lack of commitment beyond 1 year somewhat explains how this team was able to get a 1st for Bradford, but it was still highway robbery.
That Foles deal was just insane. Giving up a 2nd to downgrade at QB. How Bradford could have been a bargaining chip to move up for Mariota, I don't understand. Thank God he wasn't.
