We have the luxury that we can be patient with him. They will be able to compete for rings with or without him. I would prefer the latter of course.

The troubles, if there are any, arose after he injured himself during summer league. He looked incredible in the games that he played. I don't think this is something the Sixers could have known at the time they drafted him unless a history of mental illness was documented in his medical records.

The Sixers medical staff fucked up, as always. They tried to play him through the shoulder injury instead of just shutting him down immediately. That's why there's secrecy. They've mishandled injury after injury and now they've done it again and instead of owning up to it, they're trying to minimize the damage to their already shattered reputation. In the meantime, they're making everyone start throwing out words like "bust" "mental problems" and "yips" to a 19 year old kid who did nothing but get a weird injury and try to play through it for the team.

Agreed, I am hoping it is just his shoulder. The fact that they provided a positive update last week runs counter to the theory that they are covering up serious mental issues.
