Studies show less than 20% of guns used by criminals were obtained legally by said criminal

Were the guns made legally? They exist, therefore they can be obtained. There are more guns than there are people in this country. More guns means more guns that can be obtained by people who want to use them in illegal fashion.

How are they being obtained by criminals? If they're legally sold, there should be liability. If someone sells it illegally, or uses loose gun laws to sell them, there should be liability. If they're stolen because someone doesn't keep them locked up, there should be liability.

Criminals aren't making these guns. They were introduced to the population legally at some point.

Like one used by the Air Force?
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

Better enforcement/stricter penalties on gun control laws.
