That is the goal, correct? I'm pretty confident that's why this place isn't like past seasons. What worse is if they sign him to a big contract and they're stuck with him for the next four or five years.

Note: There's a reason other teams are hesitant to sign these types of run-first QBs to long term contracts.
I think Dallas will be a good litmus test. The difference this year is he's at least giving his guys a chance instead of bailing. He's not perfect but he's good enough to keep defenses honest. He's progressed already more than I thought he would. We'll see if he continues to improve or if it's just a mirage. Last year when they were navigating a cupcake schedule, they couldn't throw the ball. This year it looks different. Can't complain and I'm going to enjoy it while it's fun.

The reason this place isn't as active is that a lot of core posters have gotten older and moved on. And honestly a lot of people who still browse have been quiet because there hasn't been much to bitch about. As soon as this team hits a rough patch, I expect to see more threads. This is what happened during the second half of the Detroit game.

NFL teams are much better at using QBs' running skills than they used to be. Despite this team spending a lot of time milking the clock, Hurts is throwing for 280/game. I'm not sure which "run-first" QBs besides Lamar have been up for big extensions lately, but the Ravens offered Lamar plenty of money. When only a couple of QBs in the NFL fit a certain profile, saying they'll never win a Super Bowl is a very hot take that is unlikely to be proven wrong.

I did. I stand behind every word and hyphen. Believe it or not, even the best line in footbattle breaks down. There are times when an Eagles QB will have to run, regardless of protection. There are times when the QB will want to run, again - regardless of protection. You're either blind or just read a stat line. Dunno what else to say here bossman. Keep reading them lines - I'll enjoy watching the games.

No doubt Dallas will be interesting. I think the biggest improvement for Hurts is AJ Brown. I think he changes everything. It's nice to now have a couple of wideouts that will catch passes that may not exactly be put on the numbers. The same thing is happening in Miami with Tua and his wideouts. My gut tells me neither are the answer if the goal is the Super Bowl. Don't get me wrong, he's fun to watch. I would take him on fantasy football team just not my real football team. I would love to be wrong but I just can't overlook the fact that he's a QB that doesn't throw touchdowns. It's kind of similar to Ben Simmons. I just can't see how a basketball player can be considered good if he can't shoot.

It is absurd to compare Hurts to Simmons *this season* based on the fact that he doesn’t throw TDs. Hurts’s legs are an asset near the end zone. He has thrown well without getting many TDs in multiple games this season because either he or other guys were running the ball in. There is nothing wrong with Hurts throwing the way he did against Detroit, Minnesota, or even Jacksonville (by far his worst game of the season) with low TDs if they are scoring 3-4 times on the ground.

Can’t see being critical of Hurts right now. He’s playing football and winning games a a multiple threat. The Eagles offense is a multiple threat. (In fact, the Defense is multiple dimensional as well, thanks to drafting Davis).

Don't know the end result, but the Eagles are cutting edge on both sides of the ball, IMO.

I think it makes sense to say we haven't yet seen enough of Hurts throwing well to be sold. I also think it's misguided to say a QB of his type won't win. Russell Wilson won a Super Bowl and got to another as a running QB. Plenty of good QBs these days make plays with their legs. Now if you're assuming that Hurts is still his 2021 self and his "type" is a QB that sucks at throwing, then yeah it's hard to win that way. This year they've asked a lot more of him and he's done well.

I do agree that the Eagles are ahead of the curve as far as their allocation of assets is concerned.

Here's the thing, If you criticize him when he stinks, you're a troll. If you criticize him when he's doing well, you're a hater. I think it's ok to state your concerns anytime. I just don't think this style of play from the QB is sustainable. When they play good teams, I think he gets exposed like we've seen in the past. If the Eagles had a chance to get Lamar Jackson or Kyler Murray in the offseason, I'm out on them as well. Some would say the offense they run is 'cutting edge'. I say it's an offense that will eventually get exposed when they get into the playoffs. Now if this team had a 'Legion of Boom' defense that could carry the offense, I wouldn't be as concerned. This defense isn't even close to that. I know they can only play the teams on the schedule. I get that. I just don't see this team reinventing how to win in this league. Hope I'm wrong.

Played 36 today, a dozen pars, several birdies, a chip in eagle, and won some loot - I'm tired and sore, yet reading your posts was more exhausting.

Just set the fucking bar. We call you out on Hurts - Now the defense isn't legit. Top 10 in sacks, top 5 in forced fumbles, top 2 in takeaways - WTActualF are you looking for?

You being contrarian to just be? If you don't think Hurts has upped his game this year - then you're not watching the games or just want to force a narrative. If you do acknowledge this is Hurts first - second year with a coach or system since highschool then you're just reading a stat line.

Everyone here knows this won't be a perfect season. But the birds are ball'in right now. You wanna shit on that parade. Okay Sport - you do you. Everyone here knows you'll be in a race with maniac to gravedance the moment the birds stumble.

I'mma just enjoy this ride. Most Everyone here will too. The most complete Eagles team I have seen in my lifetime. They aren't underdogs anymore - they are just good. Be okay with that.

I almost care less about your golf game than I do your nonsensical replies. I'll just assume you were drinking too much last night.
