It’s been a long week for O’s fans but today we celebrate 100 wins and the AL East championship. A team that lost 110 games two seasons ago has home field advantage for the entire AL playoffs.

May we play baseball against the Phillies this October.

Losing Brooks Robinson hit me hard, harder than the passing of any other athlete. He was one of a kind, and with all due respect to fans of Michael Jack Schmitt Brooks Robinson was the greatest third baseman of all time. Honest genuine man, no one ever had a bad word to say about Brooks Robinson. He had the greatest batting helmet ever, and he was no slouch as a hitter; ask the Big Red Machine about that. I really respected the fact that he wore a glove that barely fit his hand (as did Mark Belanger). That meant when he was stabbing hot grounders and low liners he was getting to them with his hand and not with the outer two inches of his glove. No one ever got the ball out of his glove to first or second base faster than Brooks Robinson did. Sorry for running on.

Living in York, PA, Brooks and the Orioles were my childhood. My dad was an O's fan so of course I became a Red Sox fan. But I was always a B.Robby fan. It was impossible not to be. I'm dreading when Yaz goes.
