  • In all honesty, I couldn’t watch this series after Kimbrel blew that game

I could only deal with following it on MLB gameday.

That was the series, right there. Deja vu of the '93 WS.

And I thought the Super Bowl loss was bad...

Do you think Ketel Marte was named after the vodka Ketel One?

It was the 93 moment, but the series as a whole was pretty much a carbon copy of the Houston series last year. They beat Houston at home 7-0, took a 2-1 lead, had home field, and proceeded to score three runs the rest of the series.

They kicked up the collapse a notch this year, but it was basically the same thing.

Had that thought as well, after Game 2. Everyone was talking about a sweep. The lineup is way too boom or bust, and that needs to be fixed in the offseason. DD needs to get creative, otherwise it'll be the same result next year (probably an earlier round).

No, Kockring is the rookie Orion Kerkring. He's actually good, potentially very good. He just wasn't ready for the moment, and never should have been called on to protect a one run lead on the road in game three.

Kimbrel is 180 degrees the other way. Great reliever at the end of his career. Think Mitch Williams.

Combined, they were the chicken's one-two gut punch.

I'm sure they had that in mind when they signed Turner. He gets on base, with that speed, it changes everybody's approach. Instead of desperately swinging for the fences, he's forcing them to have smarter, more strategic at-bats (with more pressure on the pitchers).

He's not the biggest choker, but I think he was the biggest factor in the collapse (and the biggest offensive factor in them getting there). He keeps hitting, even reasonably well, they probably close that series out in Phoenix.

This is right up there with the 2003 NFCCG against Tampa
