  • CAT (Coordinator Aptitude Test) preperation

    Sample CAT question:

Question: You are an offensive coordinator designing a screen pass play with a choice of two players as receiver or blocker on the play. Both players have good catching ability and are equally likely to catch the pass. Both players are good at gaining yards after the catch. Both players can be expected to make their best effort if called upon to block. One player is 6' 5" tall and weighs 265 lbs. The other player is 6' 0"tall and weighs 170 pounds.

    Do you

A: Choose the 6' 5" 265 lb. player as the receiver and use the 6' 0" 170 lb. player to block for the receiver.

B: Choose the 6' 0" 170 lb. player as the receiver and use the 6' 5" 265 lb. player to block for the receiver.

Be careful, this may be a trick question!

Oooo! Ooooo! My hand was up first!

A, because nobody would be expecting it, especially pinned in your own territory against aggressive, press corners hungry for a turnover?

          Extra Credit essay.

Write an essay detailing all of the good things and all of the bad things which could result from calling a screen pass using your 6’0” 170 lb. player as a blocker. Use actual game situations in your essay.

Not sure what your point is here. The last series from Sunday is on Johnson (or maybe Sirianni, doesn't really matter). There were other complaints about Johnson throughout the season that I disagreed with, like when they put up 38 against Washington with Hurts having the best passing game of his career, and people said they didn't run the ball enough.
