  • Special teams could be the Achillies heel of this team.

For all of the negativity we have heard all season about Jalen Hurts, I think special teams have been a bigger problem. One could definitely make a case for them losing the game for us yesterday.

Does anybody really trust Jake Elliot in a clutch situation right now?

I sure don't trust him and there has to be something going on with him. Until yesterday he hadn't kicked a 50 yard FG this season. He used to regularly boom his kickoffs into the endzone but yesterday his kickoffs were short and the Commanders started their drives at about the 40 yard line. On the Commanders winning drive they started near midfield because of Elliott's short kickoff and the penalty.

My wife said he looks out of shape.

Mann has been doing kickoffs. I’m not sure why he was so bad at it yesterday. If it was wind, it didn’t seem to hurt the Redskins at all.

I’m hoping it was just dumb scheming to make them return kickoffs. That said, it was pretty obvious after the first couple that it wasn’t working. Not sure why they just didn’t go for touchbacks. The other thing I noticed was Mann’s punts seemed to be subpar. Maybe he’s dinged or something.

Yup. That makes me wonder WHY has Mann been doing kickoffs.
