    The GREAT Bill Bergey...classic LB...RIP

  • #2
Sad news for me to hear. I actually met Bill Bergey way back in 1976 or 1977. I was working part-time in retail sales at a pet store in the Concord Mall in Wilmington, Delaware while attending Brandywine College. Bergey came into our store and wanted to buy two hamsters for his children but he wanted them to be the same sex because he didn't want to have hamster babies. I did my best to pick out what I thought were two male hamsters. A few weeks later he called the store and asked to talk to me. He jokingly asked me "do you remember those two male hamsters you sold me?" I replied "yes" and then he said to me "well, one of them had babies last night." He wasn't angry and he just wanted to know if he could bring the baby hamsters back to the store when they were old enough. He was just very nice and normal and easy to talk to and didn't act like a high-profile NFL football star.

John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.
