Ovechkin breaking the goal record means nothing

If you deducted all Gretzky's career goals from his points total he would still be the career points leader of all time just on his assists.

Gretzky played in the best era for him. If he had played in the 70s he would have ended up a stain on the red line.
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

And if Ovechkin played during the 80's he wouldn't be the player he is during the clutch and grab and two goons per team era. You can't compare eras. Same applies to football.
Canada is like a really nice apartment over a meth lab.

If Johnny Unitas played today he'd have totally stolen the show on the ESPYs red carpet with that crew cut and high top sneakers.

I effectively stopped watching or paying attention to the NHL after Dale Hunter got 21 games for his cowardly assault of Pierre Turgeon and not the lifetime suspension he deserved.

There was a time when I loved hockey more than football. The '87 Flyers are still my favorite Philly team of all time. When the Devils started dominating the league with the neutral-zone trap in the 90s, the game became boring and unrecognizable to me. Then the Flyers went to shit and I haven't seriously watched the NHL ever since. I don't think I've ever even seen this Ovechkin dude play.
