What do you think? Does not have to be in any order because it is hard to order them.

I consider groups like the Dead and Phish as rock groups... you can have some country influence.... but let's exclude solo artists like Bob Dylan and Neil Young.

I tend to also enjoy the early Collins version, because they were still trying to be unique. But they morphed into just another top 40 pop machine.

                    Led Zep is definitely #1
Pink Floyd and GnR tied for #2
and i would throw in Pearl Jam at #3 even though they are more of an alternative rock band.

Band's gotta eat. Even when they were cranking out hits, they were still putting out some pretty good, long 80's prog rock tunes ("Domino I&II" and "Brazilian" on Invisible Touch, "Driving the Last Spike" on We Can't Dance, etc.)... even some of their hits, like "Mama", "Man on the Corner", "Turn it On Again" and both "Home By the Sea" songs, were legitimately great rock songs.

I love the Gabriel years (The Lamb is my favorite album ever, "Supper's Ready" my favorite piece of music ever), but there's plenty of great stuff from the early Collins years, and some pretty solid stuff from their hit making years too (Duke and everything after). Overall, they have the most impressive, diverse body of work of any band I've ever heard.

I like Mick Jagger but I can never complain about anyone who thinks Freddie Mercury is the best frontman ever.

THIS BORED HAS HAD THIS MUSIC DISCUSSION MANY TIMES IN THE PAST.

FREDDIE CAPTURED HIS PHANS, IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND, HELD THEM, TOOK THEM WHEREVER HE WANTED TO TAKE THEM AND WE ALL ENJOYED THAT RIDE STANDING IN THE CROWD. IT WAS AN AMAZING THING TO WATCH.

BRIAN MAY'S GUITAR WAS THE PERFECT FIT TO MERCURY'S VOICE.

THE THREE MUSICIANS I MISS THE MOST, CHRIS SQUIRE, FREDDIE AND RILEY B. KING.

                                EDIT TO ADD:

RECENTLY, BECAUSE OF LITTLE BIRDER, I'VE BEEN INTO moe. THEY'VE BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME, VERY TIGHT, GREAT LIVE BAND.
