The Eagles and QB Nick Foles reached agreement on a revised contract for the 2018 season today, sources say. The deal includes a mutual option for the 2019 season, so Foles still has the chance to hit free agency next spring. Team wanted to reward the Super Bowl MVP.

I'm not quite sure what to make of this, although I'm happy to see them reward Foles for the WORLD CHAMPION PHILADELPHIA EAGLES.

I'm curious if there's a salary cap relief angle as well - my guess is the option year might actually be structurally different and potentially allow bonus money to be spread over 2 years even if 1 year is voidable/optioned away. Or I could be totally wrong and full of shit.

I figured it would be good to restructure the contract, but I thought they would stretch it a little longer. Still a win win though.
