total conjecture on my part, but I'm guessing that Dawkins saw/spent a lot more time on the business side of football and didn't care for it. Also, he's always seemed to be more interested in, as it says in the article, affecting people's lives - can't say I blame him.
I'm sure both factored into this decision, but I think Brian Dawkins of pro football is done. I think that's fine.
