That's right. You just can't go from NBA purgatory to contender in most instances. It's just not possible. And only a handful of teams command free agents by virtue of who they are (Boston, now GS and Rockets) and where they are located (LA, NY). Unfortunately, without other pieces to attract prime free agents, the Sixers aren't really one of those destinations.
